Answers

  1. What are the advantages of Microtherm® panels compared to block insulation materials from other manufacturers?

Microtherm® panels are clean to use as they are completely covered in a woven glass cloth. They look and feel like the quality product they are. Microtherm® panels are also lower in density than competing board materials of similar performance capability. This lower weight makes them particularly easy to handle.

  2. Do Microtherm® panels fit well into an assembly?

Microtherm® panels have special edge features, allowing them to be pushed close to each other, and to other components in an assembly, ensuring a thermally effective butt joint without excessive heat leakage. This is an efficient method of dealing with manufacturing tolerances within an assembly so that an optimised thermal fit is obtained.

  3. Can Microtherm® panels be cut easily on site?

Microtherm® panels can be cut to size using simple hand tools. The simplest technique is to place the panel on a workbench or table and to cut using a sharp craft knife using a straight edge as a template edge. A suitable knife is available as part of a cutting kit which also contains detailed instructions. Microtherm® panels can also be cut in a workshop using a band saw. Generally, a variety of types of knife can be used for hand cutting the panels as long as the blade is sharp.

It is recommended that instructions and advice (including a special leaflet on cutting) are obtained from our Sales Offices, particularly if experience with cutting Microtherm is limited.
