Marine

Marine insulation.
Microtherm® products are lightweight and non combustible for high temperature insulation applications and for fire safety.
Microtherm is a microporous insulation that allows insulation protection to be very thin and light.
Microtherm® insulation is vibration resistant for engine room fire protection and voyage data recorders.

Microtherm® insulation for marine applications.

  • Lightweight, thin insulation systems – down to one quarter the thickness of competing systems
  • Non-combustible, zero spread of flame
  • EU and USCG approved
  • MCA approval on PFP systems for composites
  • Air gap and full contact systems available for steel, aluminium (including extruded lightweight structures), and composite vessels.

Properties
Microtherm® insulation is used in the thinnest and lightest marine passive fire protection (PFP) systems all of which have full EU Certification and USCG recognition for aluminium and steel structures. In addition, innovative lightweight PFP systems have been approved by the MCA for use on laminated GRP structures and foam filled GRP structures, mainly for use in engine room and machine room protection. Other marine applications include lightweight insulation to main engine and diesel generator exhausts, general fire protection for areas such as hanger doors on warships, and insulation to steam and other hot piping systems. Microtherm® microporous insulation is also perfect protection for compact ships voyage data recorders.

Microtherm® microporous insulation is certified non-combustible. Microtherm® has a thermal conductivity that is at least 3 to 4 times lower than commonly used alternative conventional insulations. This means that a Microtherm® insulation solution can be only a quarter the thickness of competing products. This combination creates the ultimate in lightweight passive fire protection (PFP) systems.
