Properties
Microtherm
® insulation is used in the thinnest and lightest marine passive fire protection (PFP) systems all of which have full EU Certification and USCG recognition for aluminium and steel structures. In addition, innovative lightweight PFP systems have been approved by the MCA for use on laminated GRP structures and foam filled GRP structures, mainly for use in engine room and machine room protection. Other marine applications include lightweight insulation to main engine and diesel generator exhausts, general fire protection for areas such as hanger doors on warships, and insulation to steam and other hot piping systems. Microtherm
® microporous insulation is also perfect protection for compact ships voyage data recorders.
Microtherm
® microporous insulation is certified non-combustible. Microtherm
® has a thermal conductivity that is at least 3 to 4 times lower than commonly used alternative conventional insulations. This means that a Microtherm
® insulation solution can be only a quarter the thickness of competing products. This combination creates the ultimate in lightweight passive fire protection (PFP) systems.
