Microtherm insulation for energy efficiency at high temperatures
For almost 40 years the Microtherm Group has built a reputation for innovative thermal insulation solutions. Our systems are based on Microtherm® which is the leading microporous insulation in the world.
However, modern designers frequently use Microtherm® insulation for energy savings and the Microtherm® name has become synonymous with energy efficiency in design wherever temperature control is an essential element of a hot process.
All hot processing, whether on steel, non-ferrous, or glass manufacture, or in heat treatment lines, uses large amounts of expensive energy. The more effective the control of energy losses from the system, then the more cost effective the process becomes. As well as controlling energy losses more efficiently than conventional insulation materials, a Microtherm® system is the most compact available ensuring the maximum working volume in any item of equipment for a given external size and footprint.
When selecting insulation for domestic appliances, energy efficient ovens utilise the efficiency of normal Microtherm® during the pyrolitic cleaning cycle. Again, the compact size of a Microtherm® system ensures the maximum available internal working volume within a casing that is sized to match the kitchen furniture.
In systems producing energy from renewable sources, the efficient distribution of this energy with rigid control of all system losses is of paramount importance to ensure that the energy cost is as low as possible. An excellent example of this is Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) where Microtherm® is used both as insulation for the solar receivers, and also to insulate the many kilometres of distribution pipe work.
Likewise, in hot fuel cells, reformers, and balance-of-plant, Microtherm® systems are now the preferred insulation for manufacturers around the world.
Wherever high temperatures are an essential part of a system or a process, Microtherm® is the insulation of choice to guarantee optimal system thermal efficiency.
